February 11, 1923 – February 1, 2019

Wilma S. Browne, 95, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Westview Health Care Center. She was born February 11, 1923 to LeRoy and Iva Schmitt in Green Castle, Indiana. She grew up in Indianapolis graduating from Arsenal Technical High in 1941.

Wilma met the love of her life and married Bruce W. Browne in 1941. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Bruce E., Jerry and Rick.

The family moved to Sheridan in the early 1950’s where Wilma was a full time mother, and held several out of the home jobs around the children’s schedules. Later with her husband they owned and operated Norge Laundry and Dry Cleaning for many years.

Wilma was a joiner, participating in numerous benevolent and patriotic organizations: BPO Does #127 (charter member), Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, Beauceant, and Presbyterian Women.

Wilma was always busy with her hands. A lifelong knitter and an avid crotcheter. In the 1960’s we had a parakeet that would ride her knitting needles up and down.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce W. Browne, brother Richard Schmitt, sister JoAnn McPherson, son Bruce E. Browne, daughter-in-law Marie Browne, son Jerry Browne (Sharon), and grandson Jay Browne.

She is survived by son Rick Browne (Sandy), daughter-in-law Sharon Browne, daughter-in-law Carla Browne, Grandsons Todd Browne (Tomomi), Michael Browne, Jason Browne (Michaela), Christopher Browne (Christina), Dan Ross, Jeff Parsons, granddaughters Angela Browne, and Connie Bennick (Buns); eleven great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Paul Hayden officiating.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 2121 Colonial Dr. Sheridan, WY 82801 or the BPO Elks building fund, 45 W. Brundage Sheridan, WY 82801.
