December 30, 1939 – February 2, 2019
James T. “Jim” Wilson, 79, of Sheridan, passed away at his residence of natural causes on February 2, 2019. Jim was born on December 30, 1939 to the late Irene and Alan Wilson in Miles City, Montana.
Jim attended school in Miles City until graduating from Custer County High School in 1957. While attending high school Jim participated in school plays, chorus and DECA. Shortly after graduating, Jim moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and started what would become a 15-year career as a CNA at the VA Hospital.
During that time he met and married his beautiful bride Irene Jacobs Overgaard, and together they raised 5 children. Later Jim and Irene purchased a local milk delivery company, “Bond Home Delivery,” from Clyde Bond, that later became “Sheridan Home Delivery.” Having owned the company for over 30 years, it dubbed him “The Milkman.”
Although running a successful business, maintaining a strong marriage and raising 5 children seems extraordinary enough, he didn’t stop there. His daughter, the sparkle in his eyes, and his sons, his pride and joy, he took time to teach them some of his passions. Those included hunting, fishing and to have love, respect and appreciation for our very own Big Horn Mountains. As his children started to grow older and have children of their own, Jim found joy instilling these same passions into their young minds. Every summer weekend was spent at the family trailer at Arrowhead Lodge. It’s there where the family learned more of Jim’s likes. He taught them to play cards, cribbage, darts, pool and to simply love nature.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Irene Wilson; his wife, Irene Clara Wilson; granddaughter Ann Wilson; daughter Kathryn Hamson; and daughter-in-law Karyn Wilson.
Survivors include sister Ginger (K) Huckins of Miles City, Montana; sons, Steve Overgaard of Sarasota, Florida; Alan Wilson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; David (Ronda) Wilson of Sheridan; Tom (Kim) Wilson of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild from all around the U.S.; and honorary daughter, Denise (Dave) Rollins of Sheridan.
Cremation has taken place. No services will be held per Jim’s request.
