January 10, 1928 – May 22, 2019

Irene Roark Snider, 91, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Irene was a great Christian woman, a member of the Church of Christ at 45 E. Loucks, Sheridan, WY. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born on January 10, 1928 in Sundance, WY. Her parents were Bobby and Clara Roark. She had 5 sisters; Anna, Dot, Louise, Clara, Honey and one brother, James. Irene is the last of her generation. She graduated from high school in Sundance in 1946. She married Richard Snider her high school sweetheart on September 15, 1946. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. They ranched at Sundance for 55 years before moving to Sheridan in 2001.

Irene had 4 children; Gary, John and Judy. David preceded her in death in 1952. She is survived by her husband Richard at home in Sheridan, her children; Gary (Cynthia) of Pocatello, ID, John (Patty) of Midland, TX and Judy from Sarasota, FL, 6 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 7 great, great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Irene was baptized into Christ as in Acts 2:36-47. She was added to the Church just like the people in Acts 2:47. She was baptized on July 1st, 1963, in a beaver dam on Houston Creek at the age of 35, with her family. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 56 years. Irene enjoyed Lawrence Welk, Jeopardy, country western music, walking everyday and feeding the rabbits and the squirrels. She was a wonderful Rancher’s wife; organizing the ranch business, feeding ranch hands, hunters and keeping the house organized.

If you followed Irene’s example she would teach you how to live, love, forgive, care, work and serve. She loved music, baking and her family.

She was a patient soul and at the age of 91 she went to the promised land.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2019, in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
