SHERIDAN — Gov. Matt Mead has proclaimed Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2017, be designated Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in Wyoming.

Mel Heckman, chairman for the Wyoming chapter of Pearl Harbor Survivors, and the few remaining Pearl Harbor veterans in Wyoming recommended the anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack as a day to honor the many heroes who fell that day at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the many who were wounded.

The group also requested school teachers to remind children of the Pearl Harbor attacks and the beginning of the United States’ involvement in World War II.

For more information on the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor or Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, contact Heckman at 307-672-0613.
