Shop With a Cop planned  for weekend

SHERIDAN — Sheridan Police Department and the Sheridan People Assistance Food Bank are coming together again to offer Shop with a Cop, which gives 5- to 11-year-old children the opportunity to purchase a gift for someone else with the assistance of a member of local law enforcement.

This year, the event has a limited number of spaces, so those interested must RSVP to the food bank or Sheridan Police Officer Howie Fitzpatrick ahead of time.

The event itself will be held at Walmart from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The purpose of the event as explained by both entities is to promote positive interactions between law enforcement and the community, and share in the joys of giving to others by purchasing a gift for someone else.

Each child will be paired with a law enforcement representative, with multiple agencies contributing personnel this year. If children need a ride to Walmart, Bethesda Worship Center will be offering rides, but those in need must coordinate the transportation through the food bank.

RSVP for the event by calling the food bank at 307-675-1140 or messaging them on Facebook. Participants may also RSVP with Fitzpatrick at 307-672-9745 ext. 7114.
