SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors voted to support funding requests from two local organizations Thursday during its meeting in Laramie.

The board voted to recommend the approval of the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority’s Business Ready Community funding requests, which would be used to build a manufacturing and office facility in the Sheridan High Tech Gateway Subdivision. SEEDA plans to lease that facility to Kennon Products, Inc. to accommodate its continued growth.

SEEDA requested a $2,850,000 BRC grant and a $1,510,761 BRC loan for the project.

The WBC board’s recommendation will forward SEEDA’s requests to the State Loan Investment Board for final approval. The SLIB board is expected to consider the proposal at its Jan. 17 meeting.

The WBC Board also voted to award a $500,000 Community Development Block grant to the Sheridan County Compass Center for Families, which the organization will use to renovate its existing building in order to give it more space to accommodate the needs of local high-risk families. WBC board decision on CDBGs are final.
