DAYTON — The Tongue River High School boys cross-country team took second place Thursday during the 2A West conference cross-country meet hosted by Rocky Mountain High School. The Eagles had four top-10 placers and finished with 30 points as a team, right behind champion Wyoming Indian, who totaled 28 points.

Jason Barron led the way for Tongue River with a sixth-place finish in 18 minutes, 14 seconds. Jett Walker took seventh with a time of 18:29, Cooper Vollmer placed eighth in 18:51 and Azariah Benevides was ninth in 19:00.

The Lady Eagles placed third with 53 points. Macey McArthur placed third overall with a time of 22:00. Chloe Wilson took 13th in 23:19 and Kalie Bocek finished 15th in 23:37.

“We were thrilled with all of our kids’ performances,” head coach Tim Maze said.

The teams compete next Saturday in the state meet in Sheridan.
