Lady Rams take down Sundance in four

BIG HORN — The Big Horn High School volleyball team defeated Sundance Friday afternoon, improving its conference record to 2-1. The Lady Rams dropped the first set but came back and won 23-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-23.

Head coach Katie Stewart said the team is working on starting matches better but noted the players bounced back and performed strongly in all aspects during the final three sets.

“I thought we played pretty well-rounded volleyball,” Stewart said.

The Lady Rams host Tongue River Saturday at 2 p.m.

SHS tops Natrona in Pre-Invite

SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School topped Natrona County in a Pre-Invite dual Friday at Sheridan Junior High School.

The Lady Broncs outscored Natrona County 118 to 53. 

Sheridan took first in all but one event — one-meter diving — at the competition.

The relay team of Jadyn Mullikin, Zoe Robison, Taylor Baldacci and Piper Carroll won the 200-meter medley relay. The relay team comprised of Mullikin, Carroll, Robison and Baldacci also took the top spot in the 200-meter freestyle. 

The relay team of Libby Green, Isabel Cleland, Dana Weatherby and Sydney Black finished ahead of the competition in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

Carroll also took the lead in the 200-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle while Robison finished first in the 200-meter IM and 100-meter breaststroke. Baldacci took first place in the 100-meter butterfly and 400-meter freestyle. Mullikin also won the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle.

 

SHS tennis teams
compete at state

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School tennis teams have found themselves in the top half of the pack after Friday competitions at the state tournament.

The girls team is in ninth place with 7 points. Central leads the girls teams. 

In No. 2 doubles, Stephanie Gonda and Tori Pearce are in the semifinals of the consolation bracket to begin Saturday contests.

The boys team, though, sits in third with 19 points, behind Central (23) and Campbell County (20).

Ethan Kutz remains in the running for a No. 1 singles state championship. He’ll battle Brendan Lock from Cheyenne South. In No. 2 singles, Reed Rabon is in the semifinals of the consolation bracket heading into Saturday.

In No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively, Logan Jensen and Kellen Mentock and Trenton Lewallen and Kevin Woodrow are also in the semifinals heading into Saturday.

 

SHS volleyball falls to Cheyenne Central

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School girls volleyball team fell in five sets to Cheyenne Central on the road Friday.

The Lady Broncs started off strong, winning the first set 25-19, but dropped the next two 22-25, 23-25. SHS came back in the fourth set to win 28-26, but couldn’t pull of the win, falling 9-15 in the final set. 

The Lady Broncs will face Cheyenne East on the road Saturday.

 

TRHS loses in three sets

SHERIDAN — The Tongue River High School volleyball team lost in three sets at Rocky Mountain Friday night.

No scores were available at press time.

The Lady Eagles will battle cross-county rival Big Horn Saturday. The matchup will begin at noon in Big Horn.
