SHERIDAN — The Bighorn National Forest temporarily closed Leigh Creek Campground on Monday for installation of a new toilet facility. The campground will be reopened as soon as the project is completed, possibly by early November.

The project was identified in the 2016 Forest Recreation Site Analysis. The purpose of the RSA is to chart a course to maintain a sustainable developed recreation program while reducing deferred maintenance within a five-year implementation period. Installation of the new facility at Leigh Creek will improve accessibility for site visitors, and reduce the backlog of recreation site deferred maintenance by $36,950.00. For an update on completion of the project and reopening of Leigh Creek Campground, check the Bighorn website https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/bighorn/home and the Bighorn National Forest Facebook and Twitter accounts.
