SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Jets went 2-3 over the weekend in a tournament in Gillette, bringing their overall record to 14-13.
The Jets trounced Cheyenne Post 6 12-0 in the Saturday nightcap, plating four runs each in the second, third and fourth innings. Michael Greer and Carter Dubberly each recorded three RBIs and Brock Steel went 2 for 2 with three runs. Seth Deutscher pitched five shutout innings, allowing only two hits and tallying seven strikeouts.
Earlier in the day, Sheridan lost 14-4 to Post 22 after giving up nine consecutive runs in the third and fourth innings. Rich Hall went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Sheridan easily disposed of the Laramie Deputies Sunday, ending the tournament with a 13-1 victory in five innings. The Jets scored a run in all four innings at the plate, and Hall threw five innings of one-run ball, giving up a mere three hits and striking out eight batters. Cody Kilpatrick went 2 for 3 at the plate with three RBIs and Luke Mullinax had two RBIs.
The Jets lost both of their outings Friday. They were downed in the first game 12-6 by Billings and allowed three runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings. Greer recorded three RBIs and Luke Keller went 2 for 3 with one run.
Sheridan also allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to fall 7-6 against Gillette Friday night. Hall had two hits and scored a run, while Kilpatrick tallied two RBIs.
The Jets resume action Thursday in Billings.
