SHERIDAN — A fuels mitigation workshop set for June 2 will help area residents assess the current state of fuels on their properties and learn what can be done to reduce fire risk.

Registration is required by May 21, but the workshop is free for attendees. Fuels mitigation involves reducing vegetation around homes and other structures in order to minimize loss of life and property, lessen financial impacts of fire, provide for firefighter and public safety and allow for faster post-fire recovery.

The workshop will feature Keith Worley, an ISA certified arborist, forester and wildfire mitigation specialist based out of Perry Park, Colorado. The workshop will take place at the Best Western Sheridan Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2.
