Generals drop road game at Casper
SHERIDAN — The No. 13 Sheridan College men’s basketball team fell 88-80 on the road at Casper College Wednesday night. The loss snapped the Generals’ seven-game winning streak and dropped them to 24-4 overall and 10-3 in Region IX.
Sheridan could have clinched the regular-season North Division conference title with a win. The Generals will have another opportunity to do so Saturday when they host Northwest College in their regular-season finale.
SC played Wednesday without its second-leading scorer Camron Reece (14.2 points per game) who sat with an ankle injury. Channel Banks paced the Generals with 22 points and seven rebounds. AJ Bramah logged a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Ladan Ricketts and Sean Sutherlin chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Sheridan shot just 36.1 percent (26 of 72) from the floor as the Thunderbirds connected on 50.8 percent (30 of 59) of their field-goal attempts.
The Generals trailed 44-37 at halftime and quickly fell behind by double digits in the second half. Sheridan trimmed its deficit down to as little as six points with just over 30 seconds to play in the game but couldn’t complete the rally.
Lady Generals fall to Lady Thunderbirds
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College women’s basketball team couldn’t keep pace with No. 14 Casper College in the fourth quarter en route to a 69-56 loss. The defeat dropped the Lady Generals to 14-15 overall and 7-6 in Region IX.
Aloma Solovi led Sheridan with 18 points on 8 of 9 shooting. Kassie Hoyer tallied 13 points, and Ashleigh Frampton came off the bench to score 12 and corral a team-high eight rebounds.
The Lady Generals shot 43.1 percent (22 of 51) for the game.
Casper hit just 33.3 percent (23 of 69) of its field-goal attempts but outrebounded Sheridan 49-31.
SC trailed 31-26 at halftime, however, the Lady Generals rallied to tie the game 45 ahead of the fourth quarter.
Sheridan finishes up the regular season at home Saturday against Northwest College.
