SHERIDAN — Upon the recommendation of the Sheridan County fire warden and the fire chiefs of the rural fire protection districts, the Sheridan County commissioners rescinded the fire ban earlier this week.

Open burning will now be allowed in Sheridan County.

As always, county officials encourage the public to practice sound safety measures when burning. The public should continue to be aware that burning should not be done on Red Flag Warning Days or anticipated high wind days.

It is important that those planning to burn make the Sheridan Dispatch Center aware of when the burning will occur to prevent unnecessary callouts of the volunteer fire departments. The Sheridan Dispatch Center can be reached at 307-672-2413.
