BIG HORN — The Big Horn volleyball team suffered defeat at the hands of Greybull Thursday to open the 2A state tournament.

Greybull, the 2-seed out of the West, beat East 3-seed Big Horn 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 17-25, 25-18).

Greybull actually came into the tournament with the best record in the West and only lost one match in its conference. But the team was knocked off by Big Piney in the West regional, earning it a first-round matchup against Big Horn.

Big Horn, whose season was filled with ups and downs, had a 14-18 record heading into state.

The first-round match foe proved to be too much for the Lady Rams, who fell to the loser’s bracket with hopes of adding a few more matches to the end of the season. They’ll take on Lovell Friday at 1 p.m. in a win-or-go-home match.

Big Horn and Lovell did not meet during the regular season.
