SHERIDAN – Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to a report of a ruptured gas line in the construction area east of Sheridan Memorial Hospital on the corner of W. Fifth St. and Highland Ave. Wednesday at approximately 4:30 p.m.

SFR Captain Gary Harnish said that they discovered that a gas line had been struck by construction equipment. Everyone on scene was evacuated. 

SFR and Rocky Mountain Ambulance monitored the fire, and Sheridan Police was called to keep traffic from the area. 

Montana-Dakota Utilities clamped off the gas line at a remote area, and the fire was extinguished. 

No injuries were reported at the scene. One excavator was burned.
