SHERIDAN — After an executive session Monday night, the Sheridan City Council approved the hiring of Mark Collins to fill the city administrator position.

Collins will move to Sheridan from Laramie, where he has served as the associate vice president for administration and local government relations for the University of Wyoming since July 2007.

Prior to that, he worked as the city manager for the city of Laramie, the city of Gunnison, Colorado, and as town manager for Grand Lake, Colorado.

Collins was chosen from a pool of more than 50 candidates that had been narrowed down to just two in September, when the city hosted a meet and greet and interviewed Collins and the other finalist, Anthony Tolstedt.

Collins will begin work with the city Nov. 30. His salary will be $137,427.10 per year.
