SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will temporarily close access to Soldier Creek Hunter Management Area west of Sheridan to facilitate herbicide treatment for cheatgrass.

Starting Friday, Soldier Creek HMA will be closed to all human presence while herbicide is applied in an effort to treat cheatgrass and other noxious weeds becoming established on the property. The closure will be lifted as soon as the treatment is completed, ideally within a few days.

Weather conditions and mechanical setbacks could extend the closure slightly longer.

WGFD officials thanked the public for understanding and for cooperation with the brief temporary closure, and reminded everyone that the area will reopen to the public as soon as the safety concern is eliminated.

Any questions regarding the closure should be directed to the WGFD office at 672-7418.
