SHERIDAN — Thirty-six students from Sheridan High School have earned AP Scholar awards in recognition of their achievements on Advanced Placement exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and academically prepared students the opportunity to take challenging college level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
About 22 percent of the more than 2.2 million high school students who took AP Exams merited recognition. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP exams.
At SHS, Raien Emery qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Lachlan Brennan qualified for the State AP Scholar Award, which is granted to one male and one female student in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia with scores of 3 or higher on the greatest number of AP Exams, and then the highest average score (at least 3.5) on all AP exams taken.
Ten students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Lachlan Brennan, William Carpenter, Raien Emery, Maya Gilmore, Marissa Hegy, Caleb Hoopes, Jacob Jahiel, Dillon Jensen, Kellie Kekich and Elizabeth Winnop.
Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Colbey Bruney, Makayla Hallam, Joseph Klebba, Megan Murdoch and Janika Sweeney.
Twenty-one students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams, with grades of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Zachary Ahlstrom, Alexandra Bammel, Heather Belus, Liam Casey, Judy Chen, Cameron Craft, Mackenzie Dougherty, Aleya Dunning, Julia Fenn, Thomas Fenn, Jennae Fieldgrove, Anastasia Giljum, Bradley Holloway, Justin Hope, Megan Myers, Tyler Myers, Cody Perkins, Seth Phillips, Joseph Shassetz, Adam Verdeyen and Justin Wilkerson.
