SHERIDAN — Saturday is shaping up to be a good day to dress in something green and go for a nice run. For those so inclined, the Sheridan Jaycees have a deal for you.

Participants in the annual “Run ‘Til You’re Green” Fun Run will dress in wild green costumes and meet once again in Kendrick Park on Saturday.

Lacey Johnson is heading up Saturday’s festivities.

“I’m hoping for a really good turnout,” she said. “This is our 10th year, and Saturday is supposed to be beautiful.”

The fun run consists of three races — 1 mile, 5k and 10k. The 5k and 10k lengths are mapped out and can be found at

Registration is $25 if completed on the website by the end of the day today. Johnson said that the online registration office will be turned off Thursday evening, and those still wishing to register will be able to do so Saturday before the start of the race starting at 9 a.m. Registration at the park can only be paid in cash or check. All three races start at 11 a.m.

Any child under 10 can run for free if accompanied by a paying adult.

In addition to the race, participants will get a free race goody bag with their registration fees. The goodies will include a free lunch coupon from Qdoba.

Participants are encouraged to wear costumes with the color green as the most prominent theme. Prizes will be awarded to the best costume and the greenest costume.

Prizes will also be awarded in each race to each age group participating.

The Sheridan Jaycees is a nonprofit organization that helps promote success for individuals between the ages of 18 and 40.

“This is a Jaycees fundraiser,” Johnson said. “The proceeds won’t fund any one project, but they’ll help fund all of the programs and projects we have throughout the year.”
