SHERIDAN — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance announced a $10,000 donation to The Food Group of Wyoming as part of an Emergency Community Support Grant to help independent agents give back to their local community during the COVID-19 crisis.
The donation will go directly to The Food Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating childhood hunger in Sheridan County by providing nourishment to under privileged children.
The Food Group of Wyoming was nominated by David Alden of Tegeler & Associates of Sheridan.
“My team and I have recognized the hard work and dedication performed by The Food Group during this pandemic and we are incredibly thankful for Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance for stepping up to the plate and providing extra funds to help the community when we need it most,” Alden said. “The Food Group has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and the $10,000 donation will help them continue to make a difference to the community they serve.”
The Food Group will use the $10,000 donation to help cover the increased cost of food related to the uptick in need and projected continuation of services through the summer months. Prior to COVID-19, the average monthly cost of food for The Food Group was between $12,000 and $15,000 per month. Due to the increase in need and measures needed to procure provisions, this cost will be much greater. The Food Group, as anticipated, is experiencing an unprecedented need during this time. The organization expects to continue these robust services well past the end of the scholastic year, thus creating a much larger demand on funds.
“The goal of the Emergency Community Support Grants is to help our independent agents make an immediate impact during this critical time in the local communities where we live and work,” said Alexis Holzer, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance Independent Agent Giving Program Manager.
The Sheridan County community can get involved and give back to The Food Group by donating time, money and specific food items. See www.foodgroupwy.org for the most updated information on how to help.
