SHERIDAN — Sheridan Fire-Rescue assisted the Clearmont Fire District with a structure fire on Dutch Creek Road Thursday morning. Firefighters observed light smoke coming from an attached garage of a single story home upon arrival.
Firefighters made an “aggressive, offensive fire attack” and crews had the fire under control in about four minutes, according to Capt. Chad Brutlag. Ventilation operations were used to relieve heat and smoke from the garage before personnel transitioned to salvage and overhaul.
The fire was contained to the garage as a result of quick action by the home’s occupants, who used a garden hose and fire extinguisher when they identified the fire.
No human injuries were reported, though several baby chicks were lost due to the fire’s origin.
Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mountain Ambulance and Goose Valley Fire Department also assisted with the incident.
