Broncs place third at regionals

SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School wrestling placed third at the 4A East regional meet held at Cheyenne Central High School Feb. 21-22.

The Broncs scored 204.5 points in the tournament were 2.5 points behind Thunder Basin High School. Cheyenne East High School won the tournament at 240.5 points.

Landon wood won the 106-pound bracket with a fall in 5:17 over Central’s Issac Lopez.

Kolten Powers finished third in the bracket.

Rudy Osborne finished fourth in the 113-pound bracket.

Hunter Goodwin won the 126-pound bracket with a 5-2 decision over Thunder Basin’s Jeric Igo.

Reese Osborne won the 132-pound bracket with a fall in 1:38 over Central’s Slater Bates.

Colson Coon placed second in the 145-pound bracket, losing by a 9-5 decision to Central’s Johnathan Vroman.

Brock Steel placed second in the 160-pound bracket, losing to East’s Jackson Hesford in an 11-6 decision.

Hayden Crow won the 170-pound bracket with a fall in 1:58 over Campbell County High School’s Dawsen Hayden.

Ethan Johnson placed third in the 220-pound bracket with a 5-3 decision over East’s Trey Bower.

Justin Vela placed second in the 285-pound bracket, losing to Thunder Basin’s Dalton McInerney in a 7-0 decision.

The Broncs wrestle at the state meet in Casper Feb. 28-29.

 

Broncs lose on road

SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School boys basketball team lost to Thunder Basin High School 65-55 Saturday. The Broncs trailed 20-16 after the first quarter and entered halftime trailing 33-24.

Sheridan cut the lead to 46-43 entering the final quarter but Thunder Basin outscored the Broncs 19-12 in the final quarter.

Sheridan travels to Natrona County High School Feb. 28 to conclude the regular season.

 

Lady Broncs lose to Thunder Basin

SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School girls basketball team lost to Thunder Basin High School 77-36 Saturday.

Sheridan trailed 24-2 following the first quarter and was down 42-14 at halftime.

Katie Ligocki led the team with 13 points.

Sheridan travels to Natrona County High School Feb. 28 to conclude the regular season.

 

Rams down Greybull

BIG HORN — The Big Horn boys basketball team defeated Greybull High School 40-36 in the final game of the regular season.

The Rams trailed 8-5 in the first quarter and entered halftime trailing 17-15.

Big Horn trailed 32-27 entering the final quarter but outscored Greybull 13-4 in the fourth quarter to win the game.

Quinn McCafferty led the team with 14 points.

Big Horn competes in the 2A East regional tournament held in Torrington.

 

County track teams make showing in Gillette

SHERIDAN — Sheridan and Big Horn high schools competed at the Basin Nation indoor track meet held in Gillette Feb. 21. Both teams had athletes finish in the top eight of events.

Grace Wagner placed fifth in the 400-meter sprint.

Kate Moran placed seventh and Ella Kessner placed seventh in the 1600-meter sprint.

Sylvia Brown placed third in the 3200-meter sprint.

Dulce Carroll placed second in the high jump.

Alicia Thoney placed third in pole vault.

Jamie Will placed sixth in the long jump.

Liz Romanjenko placed third in the shot put.

In the 55-meter sprint Brock Bomar placed first, Carter McComb placed second and Dominic Kaszas placed fourth.

Izak Aksamit placed fourth and Big Horn’s Will Huckeba placed seventh in the 200-meter sprint.

Big Horn’s Will Pelissier and Will Huckeba placed second and third in the 400-meter sprint. Sheridan’s Nicholas Hale and Carl Askins placed sixth and seventh in the event.

Wyatt Shaw placed second and Reese Charest placed third in the 800-meter sprint.

Tim Brown placed second, Davis Standish placed third and Alex Garber placed fourth in the 1600-meter sprint.

Austin Akers placed second in the 3200-meter sprint.

Big Horn’s Kyler Ostler placed first in the 55-meter hurdles and Kyle Meinecke placed seventh.

The Sheridan relay team of Nicholas Hale, Logan Gilberte, Dominic Kaszas and Beau Toyne placed second in the 4×200 relay.

The Sheridan relay team of Patrick Aasby, Carl Askins, Nicholas Hale and Nathan Fitzpatrick placed third in the 4×400 relay.

The Sheridan relay team of Damian Roberts, Sam Bisso, Logan Gilberts and Patrick Aasby placed second in the 1600 sprint medley.

In the pole vault event, Ryan Karajanis placed first, Kaden Moeller placed second and Shane Karajanis placed seventh.

Big Horn’s Will Pelissier placed second in the long jump.

Max Dube placed third in the triple jump and Big Horn’s Kyler Ostler placed fourth.

Gaige Vielhauer placed first in the shot put competition.

 

Lady Rams win season finale

BIG HORN — The Big Horn girls basketball team defeated Greybull High School 59-47 on Saturday.

The Lady Rams gained a 13-2 lead early and built a 21-10 halftime lead. Big Horn scored 22 points in the third quarter to help them cruise to a victory.

Courtney Wallach scored 19 points and Madison Butler added 16 points.

Big Horn competes in the 2A East regional tournament held in Torrington.

 

Eagles grapple at regional tournament

DAYTON — Tongue River High School wrestling placed eighth at the 2A East regional tournament held at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School.

Aidan Collingwood placed fourth in the 106-pound bracket.

James McKenzie placed fourth in the 145-pound bracket.

Kyle Breen won the 152-pound bracket.

Tongue River competes in the state tournament held in Casper Feb. 28-29.

DAYTON — Tongue River High School boys basketball team defeated Shoshoni High School 48-41 Saturday.

The Eagles gained a 14-12 lead in the first quarter and extend to a 33-20 lead entering halftime.

Braden McCafferty led the team with 13 points.

Tongue River competes at the 2A West regional tournament held in Riverton Feb. 28-29.

 

Lady Eagles lose on road

DAYTON — Tongue River High School girls basketball team lost to Shoshoni High School 39-36 Saturday.

The Lady Eagles led 9-4 after the first quarter but trailed 14-13 at halftime. Tongue River trailed 25-23 entering the fourth quarter.

The Lady Eagles were led by led by Carleigh Reish with 10 points.

Tongue River competes at the 2A West regional tournament held in Riverton Feb. 28-29.

 

Broncs place eighth at state swim

SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School boys swimming finished eighth at the 4A state swim meet.

Issac Otto finished fourth in the 200-yard free.

Emmett Potter finished 10th in the 1-meter diving competition.

Thomas Yates finished fifth 100-yard butterfly.
