The holiday season is just around the corner and I would like to thank everyone that continues to support Downtown Sheridan Association. Thank you to Mayor Roger Miller as he generously sponsored Hunting for Bucks, our Historic Promotions Committee’s shop local campaign. We had 20 winners that received $25, four winners that received $50 and three winners that won $100 in Chamber bucks.

This past Wednesday, we recognized our sponsors, volunteers and board members. We recognized Peg Martin as our outgoing board president. As president, Peg led the board during board and staff transitions. In addition to sponsoring Wine Fest, Goose Creek Polo Cup and 3rd Thursday Street Festival, Peg serves on our Historic Promotions, 3rd Thursday Street Festival, Goose Creek Polo Cup and Wine Fest committees. Janet Hoxie was recognized as our volunteer of the year. Janet serves on our Farmers Market steering committee as our vice-chair and was at all 14 markets helping to make sure all vendors and shoppers had a positive experience. We are grateful for everything that Peg and Janet continue to do for DSA.

In partnership with American Express and Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, DSA is a Neighborhood Champion and will co-host the Shop Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting the independent businesses that make our communities unique and provide invaluable contributions to our economy. This is the 10th year anniversary of American Express’ Shop Small initiative. If your business would like to take part in the campaign, please give our office a call at 307-672-8881. The Chamber will kick off its Get Caught Shopping Campaign that day as well.

The deadline for the Curb’d competition is next week. This competition is for design proposals for a new parklet that will fit within our downtown. We invite everyone in the Sheridan area to compete. For more information on the Curb’d competition, guidelines and application, please see our website at or give us a call.

Our next big event will be our annual Wine Fest, so mark your calendars for March 6. We will have a special ticket sale Nov. 30. Tickets will be available to purchase on our website at or at the WYO box office. We greatly appreciate all of our sponsor’s and members for their continued support.

Zoila Perry is executive director of Downtown Sheridan Association.
