SHERIDAN — Sheridan Fire-Rescue firefighters responded to a grass fire in the 1100 block of Burton Street at 7:09 p.m. Thursday. The fire was out by 7:18 p.m., Captain Jon Syring said.

A downed power line near the fire was marked as a hazard but not confirmed as the cause of the fire. The downed line resulted in a power outage yesterday.

The grass fire burned in an open lot, 5 feet wide by 50 feet long, Syring said. An SPD officer was already on site and trying to control the fire with an extinguisher when the fire department arrived, he said.
