SHERIDAN — Tongue River and Big Horn high school golfers competed in the Sundance Invite Aug. 23. Both teams brought home some hardware from the event.
The Tongue River girls won by 19 strokes, shooting 330 as a team. Sadie Koltiska led all scorers with a 98. Taylor Mudd finished in fifth place with a 115; right behind her in placings was Grace Sopko with a 117, and tied for eighth place was Madi Miller with a 118.
On the boys’ side of action, Big Horn won the tournament by 20 strokes, shooting a 363.
Tongue River’s Nick Summers won the individual title, shooting a 78 and helping his team earn a third-place finish with a 385.
Big Horn’s Hayden Tellez finished tied for second, shooting an 85. Matt Melin and Dalton Nelson tied for eighth place with a 91 and Garrett Custis rounded out the top 10 with a 96.
“Overall it was a great debut,” said Big Horn head coach Lamont Claubaugh about his team. “All the kids improved their scores from last spring or fall and have something to take back and work on in practice this week.”
Both teams will attend the Wright Invite Friday.
