A Sheridan Police Department vehicle was struck at the intersection of Brundage Lane and Coffeen Avenue Tuesday. SPD Lt. Travis Koltiska told The Sheridan Press Wednesday the officer was driving through a red light at the time of the crash.
The officer was responding to a reported domestic incident involving a physical altercation when his vehicle was struck broadside at approximately 3:23 p.m.
The officer was traveling through a red light with his lights on at approximately 16 miles per hour, accelerating to 24 miles per hour, Koltiska said, when an individual who identified himself to The Press as Stephen Bailey struck the patrol car with his Toyota Tundra.
Koltiska said both the officer and Bailey complained of soreness after the incident but refused medical attention.
The officer will be medically evaluated per department policy.
SPD is currently getting a damage evaluation on the patrol car. The investigation by Wyoming Highway Patrol is ongoing.
