SHERIDAN — Sheridan County School District 2 Board of Trustees approved the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget for the district Wednesday evening. The budgeted amount totals $50,433,250, which is an increase from the FY 2018-19 budget by $432,441 and provides $724,263 of wiggle room from last year’s actual budget funds spent.

A few major maintenance projects have increased the budget for the upcoming year, including contributions to the stabilization project near Sheridan Junior High School, updates to Sagebrush Elementary School and construction of the John C. Schiffer Collaborative School near Sheridan College.

SCSD2 business manager Eileen Bentley said she was impressed by the district’s ability to stay within budget and remain the second-lowest spenders among schools in the state. Even with pay increases this year district-wide, the budget has remained balanced.

Modules have been installed by Sagebrush Elementary School, and students and teachers will begin the school year in the modules.
