SHERIDAN — A pedestrian was struck by a drunk driver at the intersection of South Thurmond and West Heald streets May 29. The pedestrian was taken to Billings, Montana, for significant injuries.
Sheridan Police Department officers responded. During the investigation, it was discovered the pedestrian was on the driver side of his legally-parked vehicle on South Thurmond when he was struck by a passing motorist. The same motorist then struck another vehicle waiting to make a turn onto Heald Street.
SPD officers found the driver, James Schmidt, to have a blood-alcohol content that was over the legal driving limit. An arraignment has been scheduled for Schmidt in Sheridan County Circuit Court.
