SHERIDAN — Multiple reports of a mountain lion sighting to the Sheridan Police Department Tuesday night resulted in several hours of searching by SPD officers and Wyoming Game and Fish Department staff.

The first report of a mountain lion sighting in the North Heights area in Sheridan came in around 8 p.m. to SPD, and the Red Alert system notified members at 9:03 p.m. and 10:34 p.m. SPD believed the mountain lion left the area because of the presence of officers and staff searching the location.

As a precaution, Sagebrush Elementary School staff will have extra personnel outside after school and at recesses.

Please call the SPD dispatch center to report any mountain lion sightings at 307-672-2413.
