SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School boys swimming and diving team competed in prelims at the state meet in Gillette Thursday, and many athletes extended their season and will swim in finals Friday.

Thomas Yates earned himself a spot in the 100-yard butterfly finals, finishing sixth in prelims with a time of 57.93 seconds. Yates also qualified for the 200-yard freestyle consolation finals, finishing 12th in the prelims with a time of 1:57.95.

Isaac Otto touched seventh in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 51.27, and will swim in the consolation finals, while Bryson Shosten recorded an 11th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.09.

Emmett Potter placed fourth in prelims and eighth in the semifinals in 1-meter diving, accumulating 236.6 points.
