SHERIDAN — On Friday, the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary presented donations of $23,500 to the hospital. This brings the total the Auxiliary has given to Sheridan Memorial Hospital since 1991 to $637,000.
The newly-installed president Karen Steir, past-president Maurita Meehan and the Trees of Love chairwoman Joan Kalasinsky, presented their contribution to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The auxiliary board voted to allocate the funds to purchase equipment in multiple departments throughout Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Of the total amount, $3,500 was generated through the Auxiliary’s annual Trees of Love project, and the remaining $20,000 came from Kozy Korner gift shop proceeds. The funds will enhance patient care in radiology, the transitional care unit, outpatient surgery, cath lab and women’s health.
“I’m so grateful to be part of an organization that does so much to better the community,” hospital Chief Development Officer Cody Sinclair said at the Friday luncheon.
“With over a dozen committees and areas of the hospital they serve, the Auxiliary does so much to better the overall patient experience. Thank you for all that you do to for Sheridan Memorial Hospital.”
Volunteer coordinator Jasmine Slater expressed a deep appreciation for all those who volunteer at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
“Getting to know the volunteers associated with this organization has been a privilege over my last five months here,” she said. “Every day I am amazed as I work alongside the people who keep the hospital’s traditions alive, while helping to contribute to our current celebrations and remarkably bright future. Thank you for being here and all that you do.”
In addition to hearing reports from the volunteers in their various areas, the following awards were given to volunteers for accumulated hours of service:
• 500 hours or more: Nancy Miles
• 1,000 hours or more: Karen Steir, Jean Thomas, Kay Abbott, Janice Nielsen, Pat Wolfe
The board also installed its newly slated officers and board members for 2019. They include president Karen Steir, president-elect Rosemary Rieder and board member Nancy Miles.
