On behalf of the Downtown Sheridan Association, I would like to introduce myself. I’m Joyce Thompson, the part-time administrative assistant for our busy office. I have a background in communications and have owned and operated several businesses in the past. Locally, I owned The Good Health Emporium, now known as The Good Health Market. I operated a design company — Red Leaf Designs — and an online batik fabric store called Blue Moose Quilts.

I’m a lifelong learner, a massage therapist, a CNA and will be applying for nursing school through the Northern Wyoming Community College District. I also dabble in aromatherapy and make silver jewelry in my spare time. I been married to a forever Sheridan resident, Bob Thompson, for 13 years. I bring a myriad of skills that are proving beneficial to our team.

Last week we hosted the last promotional event for the 2018 season called “Wrapping up the Season.” Thank you to all the downtown retailers who stayed open for those last minute shoppers. Students from Henry A. Coffeen Elementary School also wrapped gifts for donations to go toward a trip to Yellowstone National Park.

We would like to give a huge shout out to Mark and Kathy Bede for allowing the students to use their building to wrap the presents; Walmart for providing all the wrapping supplies and the Third Thursday Street Festival for sponsoring.

Wine Fest tickets are now on sale on our website at www.downtownsheridan.org. This year’s theme is “It’s going to be a Mardi good time.” There are two ticket levels. The $75 VIP ticket includes earlier access at 5 p.m. with a more intimate experience. These tickets are limited to 100 individuals. Each vendor table will have luxury-level wines available exclusively to the VIP ticket holders.

The general admission ticket of $60 includes admission from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. A discounted price will be available for general admission tickets beginning this month. For the month of December only, general admission tickets will be $50; tickets in January will be $55.

With this fundraiser, DSA has the ability to sponsor 26 annual downtown events in our community. These events create a community stronghold where people can come together to celebrate life in Sheridan.

Our Historic District Promotions Committee continues to create year-round shop local campaigns incentivizing the community to frequent local businesses in our beautiful historic district.

For those businesses who would like to be even more supportive of the DSA, we have several sponsorship levels available ranging from $250 to $1,000. For sponsorship information, call Zoila or Destiny at 307-672-8881.

We hope to see you there!
