LARAMIE (AP) — The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., released its 2013 Biletnikoff Award watch list on Tuesday, and Wyoming wide receiver Robert Herron made the cut.
One previous Wyoming Cowboy has won the award — given to the country’s premier receiver — Marcus Harris in 1996.
Herron, a senior, starred in 2012 despite missing four games due to injury. He finished with 657 receiving yards and a team-high eight touchdowns, while also leading the team in yards per catch (21.2) and receiving yards per game (82.1).
Herron was the only receiver in the Mountain West to post two games with more than 150 receiving yards last season. The Los Angeles, Calif., native is joined by four other Mountain West receivers on the Biletnikoff Award watch list — Fresno State’s Davante Adams, San Jose State’s Noel Grigsby, Boise State’s Matt Miller, Jr., and Nevada’s Brandon Wimberly.
“We are extremely proud of Robert for earning a spot on the Biletnikoff Watch List,” head coach Dave Christensen said in a release. “To be included among the top receivers in the country is a credit to his talent and hard work. He had a very good season last year, despite missing some games with an injury. He enters this season healthy, and we are expecting Robert to have a big year his senior season.”
