SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Arts Alliance and Ucross Foundation have invited the arts community to gather for a weekend of inspiration, learning and networking beginning Oct. 2.

Kickoff for the weekend will be at noon on Oct. 2 with a lunch and learn opportunity for nonprofits with guest speaker Sen. Dave Kinskey, R-Sheridan, at the Sagebrush Community Art Center, located at 201 E. Fifth St.

Conference activities will continue Oct. 2 with an evening reception from 6-8 p.m. at the Ucross Foundation Art Gallery, featuring a special place-based group exhibition, “Ucross: A Portrait in Place.” Renowned land artist and Ucross Foundation board member Bill Gilbert will give an art talk, followed by music provided by Emy Phelps, Ucross composer in residence. The Ucross Foundation is located at 30 Big Red Lane in Clearmont.

On Oct. 3, the WAA will convene performing arts performers and venues to an annual block booking conference at the WYO Theater, located at 42 N. Main St.  The annual conference is structured to contain elements to help art nonprofits be successful in the work they do.  Those elements include:  two tiered tracks of professional development, two showcasing blocks, a block booking meeting, a member meeting and plenty of networking.

Professional development courses offered reflect industry trends and statewide issues. Courses this year include helping art organizations be responsive to community needs and develop programming choices related to those needs.  Showcases include performances by Ken Lavigne, Lauren Sheehan, Andy Hackbarth, J Shogren Shanghai’d, Julie Szewc, Dave Munsick and many more.

A complete schedule and registration are currently up on the conference website at www.wyomingarts.org. Click on Annual Conference.
