SHERIDAN — Much like in their opener last weekend, the Troop was off to a pretty good start before the rainstorms Saturday.
The Troopers (3-1) held a 4-0 lead over Powell before the game was called after only two and a half innings.
In the first, Skyler Holwell lined a solo shot to deep left field only to be outdone by Kaul Eisele two at bats later.
Eisele hit his homer even further, clearing the net that sits high above the 350-foot wall. Eisele’s shot scored Connor McCafferty and Ethan Hoopes as the Troopers took a 4-0 lead.
Drew Adriaens worked masterfully out of a no-outs, bases-loaded jam midway through the third, striking out three consecutive batters as the rainstorms rolled in.
The scheduled doubleheader was scrapped after that.
On Sunday, the Troopers suffered their first loss of the season in Cody.
After sweeping the Cubs last weekend, Sheridan dropped the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader 7-5 after taking the first 10-7.
Sheridan is home for games Saturday and Sunday before taking to the road for a full month.
They return home June 11 against Gillette.
