SHERIDAN — Tongue River Lady Eagle LeeAnna Mitchell won state in the 2A division for the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.14 seconds at the State Track and Field Championships.
Mitchell competed at the state track meet last weekend in Casper. She also finished second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 200.
“Mitchell had a fantastic meet,” Tongue River coach Chuck Walters said.
Lizzy Martin was the state champ in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.60 seconds. Martin also placed third in the 300-meter hurdles while breaking the current Tongue River High School record with a time of 48.63.
Caylyn Dygon for Tongue River placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the long jump. Her teammate Sarah Bacon finished sixth in the shot put.
As a team, Tongue River girls placed fifth at the state meet, only four points away from fourth place.
The Tongue River boys finished 10th out of 20 teams.
Austen Scammon placed fourth in three events: the 300 hurdles, 110 hurdles and 400-meter dash.
Micaiah Huff finished third in the 110-meter hurdles and seventh in the 300 hurdles. Dillon Lyons finished fourth in the long jump. Jared McCafferty finished seventh in the 3200-meter run.
“The team had a super weekend, and they are all underclassmen,” Walters said. “I’m excited to see what they do next year.”
