SHERIDAN — Join the American Competitive Trail Horse Association for a Silverados trail trial riding event on June 22.
This casual trail ride is open to everyone.
Meet at the Buyok Ranch, eight miles north of Sheridan.
The ride starts riverside, in view of the old mining town site of Monarch. It proceeds upward through the dry gulches onto the rugged prairie rangeland of a private ranch with a panoramic view of the Bighorn and Wolf Mountains.
Rider and horse check-in is at 11 a.m. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., including a 12:30 p.m. briefing for riders. The ride starts at 1 p.m. followed by dinner and awards at 5 p.m.
There are open, pleasure, scout and junior divisions. Jackpots and prizes will be given.
There will be prizes for the best dressed riders and best groomed mount.
Dry camping is available at the ride site, along with food for purchase.
All proceeds will be donated to the Large Animal Science Center at Sheridan College.
Registration closes Thursday and can only be done online at www.actha.us.
