SHERIDAN — Sheridan Ice will play host to the Wyoming Winter Classic 2014 on Wednesday.

The Yellowstone Quake will face the Gillette Wild at 4 p.m.

This game is a local follow-up to the nationally televised National Hockey League Winter Classic, which is an annual regular season hockey game played outdoors on or around New Year’s Day since 2008.

This year’s NHL Winter Classic will host a Canadian team for the first time as the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Detroit Red Wings at 1 p.m. eastern time in Michigan Stadium.

The first annual Wyoming Winter Classic will be the first time both teams involved have played in an outdoor arena.

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children and may be purchased at the rink starting at 3 p.m.

The ice is located at 475 E. Brundage St. and can be reached at 674-9423.
