SHERIDAN — Tuesday, Sheridan College agricultural students Jake Bare, Torrey Belus, Julia Collins and Amelia Manual traveled with their coach, Chuck Holloway, to the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

They competed for the first time in the Wyoming Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Contest. The competition tests the students’ knowledge of contemporary agricultural issues and the students’ ability to discuss those topics in a panel forum.

After three rounds of competition including students from several community colleges and the University or Wyoming the judges announced the top four who would compete in the final round.

Bare, Manual and Collins of Sheridan College were three of the final four. After a 20 minute discussion round Bare was named the first-place winner.

Bare received a check for $300 and an all-expenses paid trip to Virginia Beach, Va., in February to compete in the national finals.

Manual placed second and received a check for $150 and Collins tied for third earning $25.
