SC women recognized again for academics

SHERIDAN — For the fourth consecutive year, the Sheridan College women’s basketball team was ranked in the top 12 in the nation among junior and community college teams for academics.

Sheridan held a 3.094 cumulative grade point average for the 2012-13 season, tied with Volunteer State Community College for 12th best in the country.

While maintaining their grades in the classroom, on the court the SC women were 22-8, won the sub-Region IX North title and were ranked nationally for almost two months in 2013, reaching as high as No. 12 in the NJCAA polls.

The Lady Generals were ranked No. 1 in academics in 2009. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association recognizes the top academic teams among each division each year.
