SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Police have arrested a man in connection with a fight at the Rails Bar at approximately 1 a.m. Dec. 19  where one man sustained knife wounds to his face and neck. Anthony Deflavis, 29, was taken into police custody Monday.

According to a press release from the Sheridan Police Department, Deflavis was found hiding in the bedroom of his girlfriend’s home. Investigators were at the residence to interview the woman, who had witnessed the fight.

Police Sgt. Travis Koltiska had previously indicated the altercation began when two men, who had pre-existing disagreements with each other, started arguing in the bar and eventually went outside to fight. The man who received the lacerations was treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Koltiska confirmed the injured man has since been released from the hospital.

Deflavis’s girlfriend was also interviewed at the police station, but was released without charges.

Deflavis appeared in Sheridan County Circuit Court Tuesday for the charge of aggravated assault and battery. He  was assigned a $50,000 cash-only bond.

The case will now be presented to the Sheridan County Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution. Further court dates have not yet been scheduled.
