Dr. Rod Bisbee dropped by The Sheridan Press one day last week, pancake breakfast tickets handy, and we bought ours. The Sheridan Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, which Dr. Bisbee and Charles Simon started 40 years ago, is a community staple in “rodeo week” with more than 2,100 served annually in downtown Sheridan.
Dr. Bisbee says some 2,000 slices of ham are usually served, more than 75 gallons of orange juice, more than 26 six-gallon buckets of pancake batter are emptied and so forth. Lots of coffee, too. Mostly, it’s a chance to connect with friends and family early on that day before the big parade starts at 10 a.m.
The pancake breakfast will be at 6 a.m., Friday, July 11.
Good stuff, this.

It’ll be in Thursday’s editions, then distributed throughout the county at visitor centers, restaurants, bars and at the rodeo grounds every evening as Sheridan’s signature event gets ready to kick off, July 5 through July 13.
Official sponsors of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo: M&M’s, Coca-Cola, Sheridan WYO Posse, Gold Buckle Club.

Michelangelo’s “David” has weak ankles. Italian researchers have determined that cracks are beginning to show in the marble statue and could collapse if remedy isn’t quickly found and implemented.
The 5.5 ton marble statue is 17 feet high and is in Florence, Italy. It was created over a three-year period and was dedicated in 1504.
