Ruby Smithhisler 91, passed away May 19th, 2018. Ruby was born March 17, 1927 in Kimberly, Idaho to LeRoy and Zerma (Schroeder) Stayton. She attended school in Kimberly, graduating from High School in 1945. She attended one year of business school in Boise, Idaho. She married R.E “Bob” Smithhisler on April 8th, 1948. Ruby and Bob moved to Newcastle, WY in 1948 and then to Sheridan, Wyoming in the spring of 1952. She moved to Laurel, MT in February 2016 to be close to her daughter. Ruby worked at Woodland Park School for 25 years as the school secretary, a job she really loved and felt lucky to have. She continued to volunteer and sub in the school system after retirement. Ruby was a Cub Scout leader, served on the Senior Citizens Board, was a member of the Bighorn Audubon Society and The First Christian Church. She absolutely loved people and pets, especially dogs and horses. Spending time outside in her flower gardens was a passion. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, one sister Louise Mathers, three brothers, Gordon, Glen, and Blaine Stevens, a niece Christine Nelson. She is survived by son John (Carolyn) Smithhisler, their daughters Marla and Nora Smithhisler. Daughter Barbara (Jim) McLeod, their daughters Katie McLeod and Megan (Rashad) Jordan and one great-grand daughter Karli. Her sister Leila (Phil) Nelson. Brothers Wayne (Sharla) Stevens and Charles (Diane) Stevens. Numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends considered as family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 2nd at 10am at the First Christian Church, Sheridan, WY. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ruby’s name to a Hospice Organization, Alzheimer’s Organization or a charity of your choice.
