Ninfa J. Serna

June 29, 1930 – August 26, 2017 Ninfa J. Serna, 87, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 29, 1930 in Mercedes, Texas to Carlos and Inocencia (De Leon) Jimenez. She married Guadalupe Serna on November 27, 1948. Ninfa worked at Superior Laundry as a seamstress for 15 years until she retired. She enjoyed Bingo, doing word search puzzles in the winter, visiting and going fishing with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Serna Sr.; son, Juan Jose Serna; grandsons, Robert Donald Alley and Jerry Allan Ash; brother, Federico Jimenez; and sister, Dalia Mendiola. Ninfa is survived by her two sons, Guadalupe (Laurie) Serna Jr. and Fernando (Millicent) Serna; daughters, Maricela (Jim) Feldhaus, Alicia (Ronald) Cassell, Delia Serna and Rita (Jon) Ash; brother, Rey (Sandra) Jimenez; sisters, Tomasa Vega and Maria (Robert) Avila; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from Indiana, Texas and Mexico. A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Champion Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Glenn Whewell officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment in the Elks Cemetery to be held at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
