January 24, 1961 – August 19, 2017 Helen “Howie” Louise (Maurer) Deutsch, 56, of Ranchester, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born January 24, 1961 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Harold George and Ora Hazel (Howie) Maurer. She worked most of her adult life bartending and as of 1999, owned and operated the Silver Spur Bar in Ranchester, Wyoming. She was an excellent bartender who loved serving others. Helen enjoyed playing pool, dart ball, English darts, Bingo, Karaoke, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and riding on the back of Paul’s motorcycle. She never met a stranger and enjoyed the many tourists, hunters, bikers, and locals that patroned her bar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ora Maurer, sisters, Janet Richards and Hazel Rotolo, and brothers, James and John Maurer. Helen is survived by her husband, Paul Deutsch of over 40 years; her son, Michael J. (Larissa) Maurer of Sheridan; two daughters, Michelle (Jasen) Terry of Sheridan, Amy (Terry) Elliot of Watford City, North Dakota, and sister Connie (Bill) Mairs; five grandchildren, Masen and Colten Terry and Billy, Arieana, and Carissa Elliot; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Champion Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. A Celebration of Life with a potluck will follow at Ranchester Liquors (across from Cowboy State Bank) in Ranchester. Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.
