June 5, 1933 – May 1, 2018

Donald Lee Roush was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on June 5th, 1933 to Gladys (Toots) and Maitland Roush in a log cabin north of town. Don peacefully journeyed to his home in Heaven surrounded by family on May 1st, 2018 at the age of 84. Don was a diligent man. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was able to come home after 3 years to complete his bachelor’s degree and become a school teacher. During this time, he instilled not only knowledge, but good ethics into the children he taught. After 20 years of teaching, Don transitioned into working for Decker Coal where he worked and retired after 20 years. While Don worked hard for everything he had, he still made time to do the things he loved. He was not only a dreamer, but a doer. He dreamed of learning to fly, so he obtained his pilots license. He wanted to travel and see the country, so he and Mary Jean did just that, both by motorcycle and RV. He also loved woodworking, small engine repair, and quilting. He was an avid fan of baseball and loved to watch sports. He had a true passion for the outdoors. He loved his mountains, fly fishing, seeing the wildflowers grow and the wildlife thrive. We were blessed to learn many valuable life lessons from Don during his 84 years. All that knew him know that he was a teacher his entire life. He loved to pass on his wisdom to his children and grandchildren. He taught the youth in his family to drive, how to change a flat, tie on a hook, camp, cast a line and so much more. You can imagine Don had the utmost patience and you would be right! Don is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Jean Roush and 4 children; Donny (Jackie) Roush, Chris (Dean) Barnard, Randy (Denise) Roush, Jeanette Roush and brothers; Jack (Patricia) Roush, Ivan (Louise) Roush, and Dick (Viola) Roush. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was greeted in heaven by those who have passed before him, his parents and brother Joe Roush. All friends and family are welcome to a celebration of life that will be held in Big Horn, Saturday, May 5th, at the Women’s Club at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Camp Inc. may be made in memory of Don Roush to P.O Box 51353 Casper, WY 82605. So, pick up your old fly rod and toss a line. Take a drive just to look at the mountains. Go on a long bike ride in his memory. Take in the beauty that God has created and never stop learning. Don would have wanted it that way. Online condolences can be made at www.kanefuneral.com. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
