SHERIDAN – Patrick and Maurita Meehan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 15.

The couple was married June 15, 1963, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan.

The Meehans met in Omaha, Neb., while attending Creighton University.

Patrick Meehan graduated in 1962 with his doctor of dental surgery degree and Maurita Meehan graduated in 1963 with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Patrick Meehan completed his military service at Lowry Air Force Base while the couple lived in Denver.

In 1964 the Meehans moved to Sheridan and Patrick Meehan started his dental practice, where he worked until 1996.

Maurita Meehan was a homemaker, a substitute teacher and taught nursing at Sheridan College from 1982 to 1997. She also worked as a part-time nurse at Sheridan Memorial Hospital from 1983 to 1999.
The Meehans have both retired and enjoy traveling and spending time with their family and friends.

The couple will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a Scandinavian cruise.

In August they will have a celebration and vow renewal ceremony in Colorado with their family.

The Meehans have four children: Kathleen (Mark) Murphy, Maureen (William Scarff) Aplin, Michael (Debra) Meehan and Michelle (Stuart) Greer.

They have 12 grandchildren and two step-grandsons, ranging from 3 to 18 years old.
