United Methodist Women to hold salad luncheon
SHERIDAN — The United Methodist Women will hold their annual fall salad luncheon Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The cost of the luncheon is $7 and the public is invited.
The luncheon will be at the First United Methodist Church at 215 W. Works St. The entrance is on the Tschirgi Street side. A handicapped entrance is available from the main parking lot.
Rada knives will be available for sale.
All proceeds from the luncheon go to UMW mission projects locally and nationally.
WYO Theater kicking off
children’s series Thursday
SHERIDAN — The WYO Theater kicks off their 2013-2014 Children’s and Educational Series Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with “Tomas and the Library Lady.”
Based on the book by Pat Mora, “Tomas and the Library Lady” is the true story of Tomas Rivera. As a young boy, his encounter with the local librarian opened up a new world of books and stories and marked the beginning of his career as a successful novelist, educator and the first minority chancellor of the University of California Riverside.
This stage production is written by playwright José Cruz Gonzáles and will be performed by Arizona-based Childsplay, a professional theatre company for young audiences and families.
Childsplay Founder and Artistic Director David Saar will direct.
Tickets are $14 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children 12 and under.
