Bernie Bernwall holding book signing

SHERIDAN — Sheridan author Bernie Bernwall will have a book signing for his book “Mi Vida Loca.”

The odds against Bernwall were stacked high. He was molested at age four and spent time in foster homes, boys’ homes, juvenile hall and even a juvenile prison.

By the time he was 15, psychologists determined he would never succeed and would most likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

But Bernwall found that his life had a plan.

Bernwall will be at Midtown Cafe, 137 N. Main St., Saturday from 1-3 p.m.

WYO Theater hosts Met Opera broadcasts

SHERIDAN — The WYO Theater will host seven live and three re-broadcast productions from the Metropolitan Opera as part of the Met’s effort to reinvigorate opera and reach out to a broader public.

“The Metropolitan Opera: Live in High Definition” is a series of opera performances transmitted live in HD to venues around the world.

This allows the audience to experience the production at the same time as the audience sitting in the Metropolitan Opera itself.

The first live HD production will be “Eugene Onegin” on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the WYO Theater.

Anna Netrebko and Mariusz Kwiecien star as the lovestruck Tatiana and the domineering Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s fateful romance. Piotr Beczala is Lenski, Onegin’s friend turned rival.

Deborah Warner’s new production, directed by Fiona Shaw, is set in the late 19th century, and moves from farmhouse to ballroom, with a powerful snowstorm providing the dramatic setting for the finale.

The performance is conducted by Russian maestro Valery Gregiev.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for students. Tickets are available online at www.wyotheater.com, at the WYO Theater at 42 N. Main St. or by calling the WYO at 672-9084.
