SHERIDAN — Earl R. “Skip” Israel and Kathy Hyde Israel of Sheridan will celebrate 50 years of marriage this month.

The couple was married May 31, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Los Gatos, California.

His previous careers included 33 years in the grocery business in California and Wyoming, 28 years working for the U.S. Postal Service, employment at Malcolm Wallop and Joan Wallick and deployment with the U.S. Army.

She was previously employed in California at Campbell Water Co., a family owned business.

The couple owned and operated Big Horn Mercantile Co., in Big Horn from 1973-1993.

They have one son —Richard R. Israel, wife Annette, from Henderson, Nevada.

They have two grandchildren.

An open house celebration for friends and family will be held May 31 from 2-4 p.m. at the Big Horn Woman’s Club clubhouse.
